There are some who might feel that the idea of God repeatedly giving us a chance to get it right is poor theology. They may be right, but I prefer to believe that we are given one chance to accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, but we have many chances for the forgiveness and mercy of Christ as we repeatedly wander off the path.

In Psalm 86:15 it says, “But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love, and faithfulness.” This is the God I look to in those times when I falter and fall. I have always thought the beauty of a personal relationship with Jesus is what the verse above says…slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

Let’s not abuse these qualities of His to our advantage, but rather look at them as all part of the gift we call Jesus. Let us seek to serve Him, obey Him, love him and worship Him. Why? Because He loves us even when we don’t deserve it and forgives us every time we wander away. He is faithful!!

The God of second, third, fourth fifth………chances!
