The God of Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth………Chances!

There are some who might feel that the idea of God repeatedly giving us a chance to get it right is poor theology. They may be right, but I prefer to believe that we are given one chance to accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, but we have many chances for the forgiveness and mercy of Christ as we repeatedly wander off the path. In Psalm 86:15 it says, “But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love, and faithfulness.” This is the God I look to in those times when I falter and fall. In Psalm 46 we can see what might look like a small glimpse of the world in which we are currently living. The Psalmist talks about God being our refuge and strength in times of trouble, and I feel certain many people may feel they are living in times of trouble. He tells us not to fear even though the earth be moved, He will make wars cease, the nations will rage and kingdoms are moved, but He utters His voice and the earth melts.  All of this to say He is an all-powerful God and He is in control of everything. Finding Peace in a Time of Turmoil

There is a verse in the Bible, Romans 12:18, that says “As far as your responsibility goes, live at peace with everyone." (JB Phillips) My first reaction is, easier said than done. Some people just don’t seem to bring out the peaceful nature in me. In my book, “If You’re a Christian and Everybody Likes You…Something’s Wrong” I realized that seven out of the ten chapters relate to those things we need to have working in our lives to live at peace with anyone, including ourselves.
